OSHA Guide to Industrial Hygiene


You will increase your knowledge of industrial hygiene practices and related OSHA regulations and procedures in this course. Permissible exposure limits, OSHA health standards, respiratory protection, engineering controls, hazard communication and other industrial hygiene topics are explained from OSHA's point of view.

Highlights include workshops in health hazard recognition, air contaminant sampling, and the use of OSHA health standards. Prerequisite: Knowledge of the OSH Act, procedures, and standards will be helpful.

Credit: 2.5 CEUs

When you complete this course you should be able to:

  • Define terms relating to OSHA health requirements;
  • Recognize potential health hazards in the workplace;
  • Perform basic health hazard evaluations using OSHA sampling procedures;
  • Recommend acceptable strategies for controlling hazardous conditions;
  • Describe the elements required for an effective workplace health protection program.
