Designed for those interested in teaching the US Department of Labor's 10-and 30-hour construction safety and health outreach program. The course gives special emphasis to topics that are required in the 10-and 30-hour programs, and those that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Attendees will be briefed on effective instructional approaches and the best use of visual aids and handouts.
Prerequisite: Five years of construction safety experience, completion of OSHA #510 or equivalent knowledge.
Credit: 2.5 CEUs
This course authorizes attendees to conduct both a 10- and 30-hour construction safety and health course and issue course completion cards to participants.
Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to:
- Find correct OSHA standards in 29 CFR 1926;
- Identify the common causes of accidents and fatalities in hazardous areas of construction;
- Understand basic instructional approaches and the use of visual aids and handouts;
- Identify abatement techniques for hazards found in construction.
Attendees will take home:
- A wallet card authorizing them as a 10/30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Program Trainer
- Complete 500-plus page copy of 29 CFR 1926
- A detailed work manual. After the course, it becomes a valuable reference that attendees to implement the skills learned from this course.
- Field Inspection Reference Manual (FIRM). The manual used by OSHA compliance officers for inspections.
